2-Day Machu Picchu by Train Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes

8:00 a.m.: Pick-up in Cusco
We begin our journey with a 1.5-hour scenic drive to Ollantaytambo, a charming town in the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Panoramic train ride to Aguas Calientes
Enjoy the stunning Andean landscapes as you travel by train to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu.

Free time in Aguas Calientes
Explore the town at your own pace and enjoy lunch at one of its local restaurants (lunch not included).

Group dinner and preparation for the tour

Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

Early Morning: Shuttle to Machu Picchu
Take the shuttle bus to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, also known as the “Lost City of the Incas.”
This remarkable historical site features Inca architecture, including plazas, neighborhoods, narrow alleys, temples, astronomical observatories, and agricultural terraces.

Guided tour and free exploration
With an expert guide, explore the most important corners of Machu Picchu. Afterwards, enjoy free time to explore on your own and capture unique photos.

Optional ascent to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain
If previously reserved, you can climb according to your assigned schedule:

  • First group: 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.
  • Second group: 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Return to Cusco
After the tour, take the bus back to Aguas Calientes, have lunch at a local restaurant (lunch not included), and board the train to Ollantaytambo. From there, a bus transfer returns you to Cusco, finishing at Plaza San Francisco.
