Beginning of the Adventure from Cusco

Your day begins with pickup from your hotel in Cusco at 7:00 a.m.

We will travel by transportation toward the traditional village of Ccorao, then continue along a scenic mountain route to the Andean community of Patabamba (3,850 m.a.s.l.), known for its stunning views and living Andean culture.

Start of the Hike at Qoricocha Lagoon : After a short additional transfer, we will arrive at the beautiful Qoricocha Lagoon (4,050 m.a.s.l.), the official starting point of the hike.

This area is famous for its high-Andean scenery, pure mountain air, and peaceful atmosphere.

Ascent to Apacheta Pass : From the lagoon, we begin a gradual ascent of approximately 45 minutes until reaching Apacheta Pass (4,200 m.a.s.l.), the highest point of the route.

From here, you will enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the Andes Mountains.

Descent Through Andean Valleys and Puma Punku : The rest of the trek is a pleasant downhill walk of approximately 2 hours, crossing green valleys and the impressive Puma Punku Canyon, also known as “The Puma Gate.”

Along the way, you will stop in the community of Pukamarca, where you can rest and connect with the rural Andean environment.

Experience the Ancient Inca Trail : One of the most special moments of the trek is walking along an original section of the Qhapaq Ñan, restored as part of the ancient Inca road system.

Where Is Huchuy Qosqo Located?

Huchuy Qosqo is located on a mountain overlooking the Sacred Valley of the Incas, between the towns of Lamay and

Calca in the Cusco region. The archaeological site sits at approximately 3,600 meters above sea level and served as an

important administrative and residential center during the reign of the Inca Wiracocha.

The name Huchuy Qosqo means “Little Cusco” in Quechua, although the site was originally known as Qaqyaqawana.

Huchuy Qosqo 1-Day Hike

The 1-day hike to Huchuy Qosqo offers a unique experience through Andean landscapes, ancient Inca trails, and

traditional communities. The journey begins in Cusco with transportation to Patabamba and Qoricocha Lagoon, the starting point of the trek.

From there, hikers ascend to the Apacheta Pass, the highest point of the route, where spectacular panoramic views of the Andes await.

The trail then descends through Andean valleys and the Puma Punku canyon, passing by the traditional community of Pukamarca.

Pre-Trek Briefing : For all our treks, the briefing takes place the evening before the hike at 5:30 p.m. at our office.

If you would like us to visit your hotel for the briefing, please inform us in advance. During this meeting, you will have the opportunity to meet your guide and receive your duffel bags if required.

Storage Service : Most hotels in Cusco provide storage facilities where you can leave the rest of your belongings during your trek.

If your hotel does not offer this service, you may store your luggage in our office free of charge. Please let us know during the briefing session.
