Trips to Huaraz with Inca Trail Salkantay Trek
The Ancash region has immense tourist potential, its relatively small extension is not an obstacle to offer a rosary of tourist attractions of great dimension and diversity, which includes ecotourism, adventure tourism, winter sports, mountaineering (mountaineering) , cultural tourism (archeological, anthropological, culinary), etc.
The coast of the region: famous for fishing and industry, has beautiful beaches and spas such as Vesique, Samanco, Tortugas, El Huaro, La Gramita, Las Aldas, Tuquillo, Tamborero and Bermejo, among others.
The Callejón de Huaylas: which forms a narrow and picturesque inter-Andean valley, has on its western margin the Cordillera Negra, over 5 thousand meters high, devoid of snow; and, on the eastern side, a completely opposite landscape, with about a hundred snowy peaks (35 exceed six thousand meters of altitude), which rise majestically forming the White Mountain Range for a trekking. Many of these snow-capped peaks are famous in the world, such as Alpamayo, Huandoy, Chopicalqui, Chacraraju, but the Huascarán snow-capped “roof of Peru” is the one that most attracts attention with its 6,768 meters east of the city of Yungay . The Cordillera Blanca is home to more than 600 beautiful lagoons. Following the route of the Santa River, a group of picturesque villages, with their own personality and of great beauty such as Recuay, Huaraz, Carhuaz, Yungay and Caraz, stands.
The Alley of Conchucos: located in the eastern sector of the Cordillera Blanca, on the other side of the Huascarán National Park, is a succession of small valleys that are linked through the Chavín – Sihuas road. Among its landscapes are views incomparable of the Cordillera Blanca from its eastern slope that is the least known. The snowfalls of Shaqsha, Cashan and Uruashraju are appreciated; the beautiful lagoon of Querococha that forms an impressive landscape with the snowy mountains of Pucaraju and Yanamaray; as well as the archaeological site of Chavín de Huantar located at the entrance of the town of Chavín, which houses the most remote testimonies of the first civilizations of the Andes.
The Huayhuash Mountain Range: the snow sanctuary, located south of the Ancash region, is considered one of the most beautiful places in the world; the inhabitants call this place “mirror of heaven.” Located south of the Cordillera Blanca, it has a length of 30Km. and it is oriented from north to south. Observed from a distance, the Cordillera Huayhuash has the appearance of a single gigantic snow, but it is made up of the Yerupajá (6,634 m.a.s.l.), the second highest mountain in Peru and the largest in the basin Amazon, surrounded by a set of peaks of lesser height such as the Bull, the Butcher, the Mute Devil, summits of thunderous avalanches and landslides, and, above all, of dangerous ascents (dozens of dead). Six of its summits exceed six thousand meters of altitude and another fifteen more than 5,400 meters above sea level for trek; with lagoons of glacial origin populated by trout; forests that surround them, of queñual and kolle where diverse native fauna inhabits. Six Andean communities that maintain their ancestral traditions of resource use and four villages, Llamac, Pocpa, Huayllapa and Pacllon, dedicated to agriculture and livestock are located in this area.
The Llanganuco Lagoons: located in a ravine between the Huandoy and Huascarán massifs, are considered among the most beautiful in Peru for trekking. The glacial valley of Llanganuco is formed by two lagoons: Chinancocha (female lagoon), smaller, surrounded by beautiful queñual forests; and the lagoon of Orconcocha (male lagoon), located inland valley, from where you can see excellent views of the north face of Huascarán.
