Day 1: Cusco – Cachora – Capuliyoc – Chiquisca – Playa Rosalina
The adventure begins very early, around 5:00 a.m., when we depart from Cusco in our private tourist transportation heading toward the impressive Apurímac Canyon. During the journey, we will travel through the provinces of Anta, Limatambo, and Cachora, enjoying spectacular Andean landscapes and traditional villages.
After approximately four hours of travel, we will arrive at the famous Capuliyoc viewpoint, located on the edge of the majestic Apurímac Canyon. From here, we will enjoy our first panoramic views of the Vilcabamba mountain range and the trail leading toward Choquequirao.
At this point, we will enjoy a delicious breakfast while meeting the expedition team: muleteers, cook, and horses responsible for carrying the luggage and camping equipment.
We then begin our hike descending along an ancient zigzagging trail for approximately two and a half hours until reaching Chiquisca (1,800 m.a.s.l.), a small oasis surrounded by warm vegetation where we will enjoy lunch.
Afterward, we continue hiking for another hour until arriving at Playa Rosalina (1,500 m.a.s.l.), located beside the powerful Apurímac River. This will be our first campsite, surrounded by giant mountains and the relaxing sound of the river.

Day 2: Playa Rosalina – Marampata – Choquequirao
The sound of the Apurímac River will be our natural wake-up call this morning. After enjoying a nutritious breakfast, we begin one of the most demanding and exciting days of the trek.
We start by crossing the bridge over the Apurímac River, the natural border between the Cusco and Apurímac regions. From here, we begin a challenging five-hour ascent along narrow winding trails surrounded by lush tropical vegetation.
During the hike, we will take short breaks in the small villages of Santa Rosa Baja and Santa Rosa Alta, where we can recover energy while enjoying incredible canyon views.
Later, we continue to Marampata (2,900 m.a.s.l.), where we will enjoy lunch and admire our first spectacular view of the archaeological complex of Choquequirao.
After resting, we continue hiking for approximately two more hours until finally reaching Choquequirao, one of the most impressive and least explored archaeological jewels of Peru.
Our campsite will be located very close to the archaeological site, allowing us to enjoy a magical Andean sunset. If we are lucky, we may also witness the majestic flight of the Andean condor above the mountains.

Day 3: Choquequirao – Pinchinuyoc
This day will be dedicated to exploring the impressive citadel of Choquequirao in depth, known as the “Sacred Sister of Machu Picchu.”
After a hot breakfast, we begin a guided tour through the most important sectors of the archaeological complex. During the morning, we will explore:
- Paqchayoc
- The Priest’s House
- Agricultural terraces
- Ceremonial plazas
- Ancient Inca water channels
At midday, we will enjoy a delicious lunch in the main sector of the archaeological complex before continuing to explore other fascinating places such as:
- The famous llama terraces
- The Inca House
- Ceremonial temples
Later, we begin the ascent toward Choquequirao Pass, where we will enjoy privileged views of the mountains and the deep Apurímac Canyon.
We then descend to the impressive terraces of Pinchinuyoc (2,487 m.a.s.l.), a peaceful location surrounded by nature where we will spend the night under a sky full of stars.

After a restorative breakfast, we continue descending through the valley until reaching Río Blanco (1,990 m.a.s.l.), a perfect place to rest and refresh ourselves in its crystal-clear waters.
Later, we begin a demanding ascent toward the Maizal campsite (2,891 m.a.s.l.), crossing ancient trails surrounded by tropical vegetation, mountains, and remote landscapes rarely explored by tourists.
This stage offers an authentic trekking experience in the Andes, far away from traditional tourist routes.
Day 4 Summary

Day 5: Maizal – Yanama – Totora – Lucmabamba
Today’s hike takes us through spectacular landscapes and ancient trails surrounded by cloud forests and snow-capped mountains.
After breakfast, we ascend past the old Victoria mines until reaching Victoria Pass, where we will enjoy breathtaking views of the Vilcabamba mountain range and its glaciers rising above 5,000 meters.
Later, we descend toward the picturesque village of Yanama, where we will enjoy lunch and say goodbye to our muleteers.
We then continue by local transportation through the impressive Mariano Llamocca Pass (4,643 m.a.s.l.), from where we can admire the majestic Salkantay Mountain, one of the most impressive glaciers in Cusco.
Finally, we descend toward Lucmabamba, surrounded by waterfalls, mountains, and lush vegetation.

Day 6: Lucmabamba – Llactapata – Aguas Calientes
Today we will hike along an original section of the Inca Trail toward the impressive archaeological site of Llactapata, located on a mountain with privileged views of Machu Picchu.
After the morning hike, we arrive at Llactapata, where we will enjoy unique panoramic views of Machu Picchu from a distance — a truly special experience for photography and history lovers.
We then descend for approximately two hours to the Hydroelectric Station, where we will enjoy lunch.
From here, you will have two options:
Take the train to Aguas Calientes
Continue walking along the railway tracks for approximately three hours until reaching Aguas Calientes
Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, you can relax at the hotel or explore this charming village surrounded by mountains and nature.
In the evening, we will enjoy a group dinner while the guide provides important information about the Machu Picchu visit the following day.

Finally, the most anticipated day of the adventure arrives: the visit to the world wonder of Machu Picchu.
Depending on the assigned entrance schedule, we will enjoy an early breakfast before heading to the Inca citadel. You may choose to hike up or take the bus to the main entrance.
Once inside Machu Picchu, our guide will provide a complete tour through the main archaeological sectors, including:
- The Temple of the Sun
- The Intihuatana
- The Inca House
- Ceremonial plazas
- Main temples
If you reserved the additional entrance to Huayna Picchu Mountain or Machu Picchu Mountain, you will have time to complete those hikes and enjoy unforgettable panoramic views.
After the visit, we return to Aguas Calientes to board the train back to Ollantaytambo, where our private transportation will be waiting to take us back to Cusco.
